CBA Sportsfest

The College Student Council together with all the Academic Club of the College of Business Administration, University of the Cordilleras decided to work hand and hand to organize the CBA Sports fest, “Mini Olympics”. This aims to establish the bond and Sportsmanship of the officers of the different organization of the College and to have a deep working relationship to the officers and its members.

For this event to be successful, a lot of preparation happened. This preparation includes the recruitment of players for Basketball Men, Volleyball Men and Women, Badminton. And to do this, the officers conducted an open table last February 6-9, 2012.

The initial plan of venue is at Green Valley Sports Complex and this event must commence on a Sunday. But as the officers deliberate and discuss the hazard of conducting an activity outside the school premises especially on a Sunday, the officers now decided to held the event on Friday and the venue will be at the gym.

Four teams were created based on the number of members. Red team consist of NMEC, IJE and SJE. Blue teams consist of PASOA, JPMAP and ATTC. JFINEX and MJE have a lot of members that’s why they have individual teams which is the pink team and yellow team accordingly.

Come March 30, 2012. Ms. Eiza Ngayodan from CSC headed the Registation. At exactly 9:00 in the morning the program started. An opening prayer by Ms. Abigail Colorado started the event. Followed by Mr. Paulo Romelo Teodoro gave the opening remarks. After this, Mr. Elvin Cedric Garcia, one of the players for Basketball Men headed the Oath of Sportsmanship. Mr. Richie Boy Cardines, President of Institute of Junior Economists and the MC of the event officially gave his go signal to start the game at exactly 10:00 in the morning.

The first game was Basketball (Men). Different teams fight to be the last team standing. The crowd has their own favorites. They cheer at the top of their voices to show their support to their teams and that motivated the players even more to play harder. These boys are eager to win the game. At the end of the day, Marketing Junior Executives remain to be the last team standing and crowned the champion.
Its one o’clock in the afternoon and the next game was Volleyball (Women). The teams did their best to conquer the title. Different teams from different organization gave their very best. But as time passed by, the champion was crowed and it was the Red Team (NMEC, IJE and SJE).

The volleyball ended and it is almost 5 o’clock. The reservation of the event is only from 5pm so even if there are a lot of games that was prepared. The officers decided to end the day’s event. Part of the games is Badminton Men and Women, Volleyball (Men) and the palarong pangbansa that involves the games that Filipinos popularized.

After the event, everyone was tired and exhausted. The audiences have throat ache because they cheer so loud during the event. But despite hardships that was encountered by the officers and participants, it was all worth it. Its heartwarming that all the officers are working hard just for this event to be successful. You can see the camaraderie and bonding that was established to all the officers. So as we end the day, we were just delighted with the result and you can see that there are no hard feelings between the players. All we can say is that we cant wait for next year CBA Sports fest and we believed that event would be as great as this years event.

CBA Trade Fair

In Celebration of the CBA Week, the Marketing Junior Executives work hand in hand with Student Council to conduct a Trade Fare. Trade fare is scheduled from March 22 -24 at the Canteen Extension and at the back of M209. To attract more people, CBA borrowed the Pavilion from the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management and it serves as the place for the different clubs to sell the products that they are offering.

At the first day of the Trade Fare, Marketing Junior Executives failed to join because of the delayed information that the school cannot provide us with wires for electricity. This discourages our plans to sell pancakes and shake that we find more profitable in our previous trade fare for Valentines. Plan B for the club is to sell soimai, but other clubs sell it on the first day and that’s unethical for the club to compete with other clubs product because we defy the objective of this trade fare and that is to raise funds in a nice and friendly way. Due to this, the club officers find other saleable product that would fit the taste of both the students and the employees of the University.  As marketing students we should provide the students with the right product that would satisfy and delight them at a reasonable price. This is an added pressure for the club. At the end of the first day of the Trade fare we derived at a common product and that is fresh fruits like Watermelon, Mangos, singkamas, and pineapple.

This event made us realize that selling is not that easy. It involves a lot of hard work and effort and for you to succeed you should be able to have the right attitude and that is patience and dedication. All the sacrifices we made were really worth it. The most important part of this trade fare is not the gaining of funds but the lessons that you can acquire.

National Bookstore: Advertising in a Globally Competitive World

It’s more fun in CBA! This was the theme of the CBA Week last March 22, 2012 to April 1, 2012. This event intends to promote fun and learning all at the same time. With these intentions, the College Students Council opens the CBA Week through the Series of Seminar that was hosted by different academic clubs of the College. The Marketing Junior Executives believes that the students will establish a strong foundation when they participate in this seminar. The club sponsor two seminars and one of this is the “National Bookstore: Advertising in a Globally Competitive World” seminar. This event took place last March 23, 2012 at exactly 2:35 in the afternoon at the University of the Cordilleras Review Center.

For this seminar to be successful, the officers of the club collaborated with the National Bookstore Jr. Assistant Branch Manager , Ms. Cherry Lou VIllacencio and was invited to be our guest speaker for the event. Fortunately, Ms. Cherry Lou Villacencio was thrilled to share her experiences with the student of the College of Business Administration and she is really grateful that she will be a part of the molding of students to be a better businessman and she is looking forward for the event.

It was March 23, 2012. Besides the seminar, different club is also busy with the trade fair for that afternoon. And for both activities to work, the Marketing Junior Executives shall do multi tasking to make both the activities to be successful. So it was quite difficult for us to balance our time but at the end we definitely figure things out.

It was 2:20 in the afternoon at the same day. Because this is not our first time to handle seminar, we didn’t have much difficulty in handling the event. Michael Lois Lupango and Mark Go was in charge of the registration. The Classes of Mr. Eric Clester Feir and Mr. Lee Man Basinga was invited to be the participants for the seminar. We started the seminar at exactly 2:35-4:00 with a total of 100 participants.

The officers of the club take different responsibility for the seminar. Ms. Racquel Domingo( Vice President for Internal Affairs) was in charge of the Opening Remarks, Mr. Jester S. Umali (Vice President for Finance) was in charge of Introducing the Speaker which is Ms. Cherry  Lou Villacencio, Mr. Godofredo Martin (President) was in charge of the Closing Remarks, and the Secetary, Ms. Diana Franceska Pena was the Master of Ceremonies for the event. And all of them performed their task perfectly.

Ms.Cherry Lou Villacencio also did a pretty good job in sharing and discussing the topic in her lecture. The participants of the event were delighted with the information that they are acquiring from the seminar. “Competition was tough so a company must do their best to best strategy for effective advertising” this is one of the striking statements of Ms. Cherry Lou that we find the most applicable in the real life.

The seminar ended at 4:00 in the afternoon to in preparation for the next lecture series. The Marketing Junior Executives was able to make this event work because we are dedicated with educating our members with up to date information that would really help them cope up with their lives.

Advertising in the Computer Era

As a continuation of the “CBA Week Series of Seminars”, the Marketing Junior Executives conducted a seminar entitled “Advertising in a Computer Era”. This seminar is one of the two seminars that was prepared for the said activity. This seminar took place last March 23, 2012, 4:00 to 5:25 in the afternoon at University of the Cordilleras, Review Center.

The Marketing Junior Executives invited Mr. Tyron Sumera, the Supervisor in Recruitment and Training and Sitel Academy. Believing in his expertise to deliver a good lecture regarding the advertising techniques they used in SItel that might be beneficial for the students to know. This is not the first time that the club encountered Mr. Tyron. He is actually the speaker for the previous seminar at the University of the Cordilleras, Auditorium last March 12, 2012 entitled “ Delivering Excellent Customer Service”. Upon his lecture, the officers of the club immedieatly becomes a fan and we need to hear more from him so we decided that this seminar is actually the best way to invite him again to share his immeasurable knowledge in Advertising.

The event was attended by the Hospitality and Tourism Management Students taking Marketing in HTM World under Mr. Eric Clester Feir and the class of Mr. Lee Mann Rexon Basinga of Marketing Management  . Some students who are vacant during that time are welcomed to attend the seminar. At exactly 4:00 pm the registration starts and after a few minutes, the seminar officially started.

This is the third seminar for this trimester that the club hosted. Definitely the task that was given to the officers are  easily facilitated. Mr. Godofredo Martin was the Opening Remarks. Jester Umali introduced the Speaker for the event. Ms. Racquel Domingo was the Closing Remarks. As usual, Ms. Diana Franceska Pena serves the Masters of Ceremony of the event. The Treasurer and Auditor tandem Mr. Lois Lupango and Mr. Mark Go facilitated the Registration.

As expected, Mr. Tyron Sumera did not disappoint us for giving an excellent lecture that educated the students on how they do advertising in SItel. He finished the lecture at around 3:30 in the afternoon. Awarding of Certificate to the Speaker followed after the lecture.

The seminar received a favorable feedback cause they learn how useful the information that they acquired. Hearing this good feedback was heartwarming that’s why all the hard works for this seminar is worth it.
